Short titles, one expected result, real data. A template with examples.
A good test case can be run by someone who has never seen the feature, and its failure tells a developer exactly what broke.
The template
Title: what is being checked, in under ten words. Preconditions: the state before the test. Steps: numbered, one action each. Expected result: one observable outcome. Test data: real values, not “valid input”.
